The Equity Transaction Costs Index (ATI) is approaching its lows again
After the Berlin Daytrade Broker Lynx reduced its order fees for share purchases via XETRA at the turn of the month, the Shares Transaction costs Index (ATI) fell to its low for the year of 70.09 points and is approaching its absolute low of August 2008 (69.02 points at the time). This means that the index has already fallen by around 3% since the beginning of the year.
The next few weeks will show whether other brokers will also reduce their order fees. Deutsche Börse, for example, just reported a Sales increase on XETRA by 25 percent - from June to July alone. Compared with the same month last year, the figure was as high as 27 percent.
With the stock markets currently very volatile, trading volumes are likely to remain very high for some time to come.
In view of increased order turnover, there would therefore be sufficient scope for fee reductions at present...

The Stock Transaction Costs Index (ATI) shows the ongoing development of the average transaction costs for an order via XETRA since July 2000 on a monthly basis. The starting point is July 2000 with an index value of 100. The ATI includes the transaction costs incurred for ten different order volumes at the online brokers relevant in Germany (e.g. comdirect, Cortal Consors, DAB bank, flatex…).
